PUBLIC MEETING TO BE HELD FOR YOUTH ENGAGEMENT IN VIKING

The Beaver County Partnership is working on a youth engagement project, with a focus on ages 25 and under.

An event was being hosted at the Viking Carena Complex on Tuesday, April 12 in order to obtain further public input.

Lars Hallstrom, of the Alberta Centre for Sustainable Rural Communities at the University of Alberta, explained that the project is an attempt to retain and attract young people to Beaver County.

“It’s a demographic and economic development initiative,” said Hallstrom.

He explained that since jobs cannot be created from nothing, research is being done into what other factors can draw people in to communities around the county.
